Matters Arising

Explanation of the meeting on March 3 for new umpires. Successful meeting with R. Baggs and L Balsam presenting to 15 attendees.

Financial Report

Suggestion that our umpires this year fulfil their obligation to operate the barbecue on a Saturday morning after failing to do so in 2019. This can be an effective fund raiser. Personnel to be organised at the next meeting. P. Calkwell/R McLachlan

Discussion on the use of microphones purchased by umpires for onfield communication. Suggestion that additional/replacement microphones be purchased.

Discussion on Umpires’ shirts. CEO to be asked to purchase new shirts, probably with yellow and red colours included.

Reminder that NZH Umpires shirts are not appropriate for club umpiring appointments.

Correspondence

Applications are invited from HNZ Hockey Foundation to fund 2 Umpires Scholarships.

General Business

CEO advised that he will push Mike Ward for the completion of the long-awaited, up-graded Wellington HA judiciary rules.

Des Meads’ proposal to develop Secondary School mentoring of umpires received offer of support from Tim Woods. Resolved to accept Tim’s offer . R McLachlan/ B Rosemergy

Sunday Hockey – Peter Cawkwell to present and promote Sunday Hockey online

Effectiveness of WHA Facebook was evident with a large response to the recent coaching session for rookie Sunday umpires

Next Umpire Training programmes on 28 April with separate sessions for Mini, Intermediate and Secondary umpires.

Umpires to put our name on the list for Saturday BBQ fundraiser, with Ned. Potential to raise $1,000 in 6 hours.

The next meeting for the Umpires Committee to be held on 14 April at 6.30pm
