The Adastra Foundation
The Adastra Foundation offers Scholarships to extraordinary young athletes from Waikato and Bay of Plenty, striving for success on the national and international stage. Their programme includes a cash bursary and personal development workshop, specifically designed for young adults aiming to be the best they can be – on and off their stage.
Up to 80 Scholars are supported each year, meeting specific criteria and performance standards given below.

Bursaries are typically $1,000 to assist with performance-related costs. The personal development workshop is an authentic, informative, inspirational and FUN experience immersed for 2 days at the Podium Lodge and Avantidrome in Cambridge or venues at Lake Karapiro.

The Supplementary Tanner Adastra Scholarships are gratefully supported by Jon and Sue Tanner, outstanding patrons of Waikato and Bay of Plenty sport and performing arts, and champions of young adults’ opportunity. Hailing from Waikato, they are generous with their time, money and energy to help others develop their skills, and reach the highest level, without leaving home. Along with the personal development workshop, Tanner Adastra Scholarships of $1,250 was awarded to 4 young hockey players or performing artists (dancers and musicians) with additional financial need.

2022 applications will be open between the 1st and 31st of August, 2021.

Tania Dalton Scholarship

The Tania Dalton Foundation, created in honour of the sporting legend whose presence would fill the room, has been established to make a meaningful impact on the lives of budding young kiwis, guiding them to lead their biggest life – as Tania did.

The scholarships aims to provide support to young women from all kinds of circumstances and at different stages of their development, to unlock their talent and enable them to live their biggest life with sport as their guide.

Included in the criteria is the ability to demonstrate a significant level of financial and/or circumstantial hardship. Hockey has yet to have a young female granted a TDF Scholarship so it would be great to see this change!
