WHA will deliver weekly U16 Development trainings in term 1 and term 2 (for 6 weeks). These trainings are open for players of all abilities and intended for all players aspiring to play representative hockey. Participants will be training in small groups working on individual skill development. Trainings will have an emphasis on basic skill, advanced techniques, generic principles of play and decision making. The program starts on Monday 12th February 2024.
As part of this program participants also have the opportunity to be selected for the U16 Tournament, 15-18th July 2024, in Hamilton. The July tournament will be an extension of the program, a team will be selected from the programme. This Tournament will come at an additional cost. Unfortunately, not all players participate in the tournament.
In order to register for the 2024 WHA U16 Development Program players need to be born in 2008 or 2009.
Parent Information Evening
Prior to the Program starting there will be an evening for parents/guardians/players to attend for pre-season information and to discuss how the program will progress.

Term 1 trainings: Mondays 4-5.30pm at Gallagher Hockey Centre, 19th February – 8th April (7 weeks) no hockey easter Monday 1ST April
Term 2 trainings: Thursdays 4 -5.30pm at starts 2nd May –6th June (6 weeks)
Cost: $221
Team selected – The team will then continue to train from 13th June – 11th July ready for tournament in Hamilton – 15th July – 18th July
5 weeks training & Tournament 15th -18th July (additional cost applies).
It would be great if players sign up for both terms, however we understand and appreciate that at this age group, players play multiple sports.
