Appointed as Technical Official at u18 Grils National Tournament

Waikato Hockey is incredibly proud of Robyn appointed as Technical Official to the U18 Girls National Tournament, and we’re pleased we get to shine a spotlight on a local good sort that gives so much to hockey.

Robyn Wells is one of those people you just know you can rely on. Every Saturday, she can be found running the technical bench of our Premier Hockey competition acting as the key link between the umpires and the dugout.

Robyn has been Involved with hockey her whole life, playing from age 12 through to her late 40s and says that she loves the fact that she can still be a part of the hockey community, catching up with friends she played with, watching boys she coached/managed while they were at school, and continuing to grow her hockey family.

Robyn has been the manager of the Hamilton Boys High School first 11 since 2016, after coaching her three boys Cameron, Kieran, and Vaughn up to intermediate age. She coached or managed a number of Waikato Representative teams over the years which gives her a thorough understanding of the rules, and a keen eye for the technical details of a well-run hockey match.

Robyn says she’s looking forward to the step up and challenge of officiating within a national tournament environment, learning new things, and making new hockey friends. She sees an opportunity in helping team managers enjoy their tournaments by passing on her knowledge as a manager and interacting with officials.
