WHA Notice – Fee Increase & Levy for 2025

4 November 2024

To: All Affiliated Committees, Clubs, and Schools.

Re: Notice of:
1 2025 Fee Increase (Due to Rising Operational Costs)
2 Annual Facilities Levy

To whom it may concern,

As a valued member of the Waikato Hockey Association, we remain committed to providing you with the highest standards of service, support, and opportunities to foster hockey development and engagement.

Over the past two seasons, we have faced significant increases in operational costs, including facilities expenses, ongoing field maintenance, insurance, and other essential resources required to ensure the continued success of our programmes. Additionally, a reduction in successful funding applications has further impacted our budget, leaving us with fewer external resources to offset these rising costs. Despite exploring internal cost-saving measures and seeking feedback from our members, the Waikato Hockey Association Board has determined that a fee adjustment is necessary to continue delivering the quality services you expect from us.

In addition to these fee increases, an Annual Facilities Levy will be introduced. The purpose of the levy is to raise funds, mainly for future capital replacements. The funds from the levy will be paid to the Waikato Hockey Charitable Trust, to be invested, and later used for capital replacement, for example, turf renewal, when the need for replacement arises. [Notes: The Annual Facilities Levy does not apply to players playing in the Cambridge Mini Hockey, as these teams do not use the facilities at the Gallaghers Hockey Centre.]

The 2025 registration fees and annual facilities levy per team will be as follows:

We understand that these fee increases, and the new levy may present challenges, and we have endeavoured to keep the adjustments as minimal as possible, while ensuring the Association remains financially sustainable.

If you have any concerns or questions regarding these changes, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We deeply appreciate your ongoing support and look forward to continuing our successful partnership in promoting hockey at all levels.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Kind regards,
Ethan Hohneck
On behalf of The Board of Waikato Hockey Association
