Waikato Hockey Association will be running Senior Performance Trainings leading up towards the 2020 NHC campaigns. These trainings will be run on a selection bases and are meant for driven and motivated hockey players that are willing to get more development out of their trainings or look to top up their current hockey with quality trainings in a competitive environment. All players looking to play in the National Hockey Championship (NHC) are recommended to attend these trainings.

Trial trainings are:

Men: Thursdays, 5 March till 9 April, 7.00-8.30pm at Hamilton Boys
Women: Thursdays, 5 March till 9 April, 7.00-8.30pm at St. Pauls
Cost: No charge

After the initial six Trial trainings a training squad will be named for the next block. Block two will consist of two trainings per week.

Men: Mondays, 7.00-8.30pm at St. Paul’s
Thursdays, 7.00-8.30pm at Hamilton Boys

Women: Mondays, 7.00-8.30pm at Hamilton Boys
Thursdays: 7.00-8.30pm at St. Paul’s

National Hockey Championship (NHC) team selection

A Teams
Players wanting to play in the Waikato 2020 NHC A teams will need to be part of either the Senior Performance Training Squads or they need to be a registered member for any Waikato Hockey Club to be considered. Exemptions can be made on case by case bases, but Waikato Hockey wants to encourage as many players as possible to train, play and grow hockey in the Waikato.

B teams
Waikato Hockey is looking to send a men’s and women’s Development team to NHC under the names Bears and Wild Cats. Requirements to make the Bears and Wild Cats teams will only be limited through HNZ regulations for eligibility.
