Manav Shah Appointed to U18s – Umpire Profile

Congratulations Manav on your appointment as Technical Official to the National U18s Tournament

Manav is one of Waikato Hockey’s top up and coming match officials who we are pleased to see appointed to the Under 18 National Tournament after a brilliant run this season. His 2023 CV already includes appointments to the New Heritage and New Zealand Indians tournament final matches.

Hockey is in his blood with a rich family history of two generations of international representation. His Grandmother was a member of one of the earliest Indian Women’s national teams in the mid 1950s, and his Mother Naaz was the captain of the Indian Women’s team.

He’s active in our local community, umpiring at Premier level and umpire coaching both young and developing umpires in our Secondary and Reserve competitions. He says that “being an umpire and official is absolutely thrilling being close to the action. Most importantly for me, it’s about being a part of a fantastic hockey whanau throughout our Waikato region and country!”

We wish Manav all the best at tournament, that his run off success in the officiating space continues, and that his aspirations to forge his own path in his family history comes to fruition.

All the best mate, and thanks for all the work you do, and support you provide our community.
