Coaching Opportunities

Waikato Hockey is currently looking for coaches to be involved in Rep programs, Development Programs, Disability Hockey Programs and Junior Hockey Programs.

Rep and Development Program coaches:

For our rep teams and Development Programs we are looking for committed and responsible coaches who can be a positive role model for our sport and athletes, acting in a way that projects a positive image of coaching. Coaches are expected to have experience in a competitive coaching environment, have an eye for individual player development and have an understanding of the modern game of hockey.

WHA Rep coaches are required to:

  • attend, facilitate and prepare 10 Development trainings in the term in term
  • attend, facilitate and prepare a minimum of 6 team/squad trainings in term 2 before tournament
  • attend, prepare and lead a tournament/festival

 

Disability Hockey Program coaches:

For our Hockey without Limits Program we are looking for committed and responsible coaches who can be a positive role model for our sport and participants, acting in a way that projects a positive image of coaching. Coaches are expected to have an passion for hockey, have an eye for individual development and enjoyment, and have an interest in working with participants with special needs.

Hockey without Limits coaches are required to:

  • be available to coach during daytime on weekdays for one or two hours in Term 1 and 4, and/or
  • be available to coach/support a team in the winter season on weekday evenings (term 2 and 3), and/or
  • be available to coach a one hour session on a weekday night during term 2 and 3

 

Junior Hockey Program coaches:

For our Junior Hockey Program we are looking for committed and responsible coaches who can be a positive role model for our sport and participants, acting in a way that projects a positive image of coaching. Coaches are expected to have an passion for hockey, have an eye for individual development and enjoyment, and have an understanding of the skills required for the modern game of hockey.

Junior Hockey coaches are required to:

  • be available to coach for 1.5 hr once or twice a week on a week night during Term 1 – 4, and/or
  • be available to coach for 1hr on a Saturday morning during the winter season (term 2 and 3)
