Waikato Hockey are thrilled to welcome Darren Smith as the Head Coach of the Waikato Women’s NHC team for 2025!
Darren’s career spans 30 years in international hockey, including 212 caps for the Vantage Black Sticks, multiple Olympic Games, World Cups, and Commonwealth Games campaigns as both player and coach, before moving into high performance leadership.
He has led three international programmes as Head Coach and worked with multiple elite programmes both internationally and in New Zealand. His leadership, tactical expertise, and passion for the game will be a huge asset as we build towards a strong NHC campaign.
