Gallagher Hockey Centre Update

Lugton’s Turf 2 has come to the end of its lifecycle, and we are excited to announce that it will be replaced with a brand-new WETT PRO turf from Tiger Turf. This new turf will provide an improved playing surface for our community. The relaying of the turf will begin in just a couple of weeks, ready for the 2025 Winter season.
We appreciate your patience and understanding regarding any disruptions you may experience during this transition. However, we are confident that the investment in the new surface will ensure users of the Lugton’s Turf 2 will benefit from the best available turf technology.
The WHA team are currently communicating directly to all our user groups who will be affected. We will provide updates on the replacement – stay tuned for more details, and feel free to reach out with any questions!
Thank you to the Waikato Hockey Charitable Trust, Hamilton City Council, Grassroots Trust, Pelorus Trust, Bobby Foundation, The Lion Foundation, North & South Trust, plus our generous Givealittle contributors for their incredible support in making this project happen for our community!
“I would like to thank the Waikato Hockey Charitable Trust for their hard work and I want to acknowledge the funders and supporters who made this project possible. The team at Waikato Hockey are excited to have a new player surface which will support our programs and serve our hockey community now and into the future.” – Darren Ward, CEO, Waikato Hockey Association.
