Just Hockey Festival- 09/03/2024

Senior Reserve Grade- 17/03/2024-25/08/2024: No Play: 31/03/2024 (Easter), 02/06/2024 (Kings Birthday), 30/06/2024 (Matariki)

Premier/Intercity-  13/04/2024-24/08/2024: No Play: 01/06/2024 (Kings Birthday), 29/06/2024 (Matariki)

Pre-Season Festival

On 9th March Waikato Hockey is looking to run a pre-season half field festival. 

Premier

The plan is for prems is to start on 13th April with an Intercity competition that doubles up as Waikato round in terms of points collated. At the end of the Intercity comp. The Waikato standings then play SF/F to get a Waikato comp winner (depending on the number of teams) so will look to finish 24th August.

Reserve

Start Date: 17 March 2024
No play: Easter (31st March), Kings Birthday (2nd June), Matariki (30th June)
Finals Date: 24th & 25th August 2024

Women:

R1: 8

R2: 6

R3: 6

21 Weeks: All teams to play 20 weeks and only finalists on the 21st week.

Round 1: 7 Weeks

R1: Straight 7 week round robin.

R2: Round Robin followed by a semi-final and final.

R3: Round Robin followed by a semi-final and final.

Round 2: 5 Weeks

R1:

Split into two pools based on round 1 rankings play 3 games then crossover semis and finals for 1-4 and 5-8 placings

Pool A: 1,4,5,8 Pool B: 2,3,6,7

R2:

Straight Round Robin.

R3:

Straight Round Robin.

Round 3: 9 Weeks

R1:

Round robin of 7 weeks followed by Semi-final And Final.

R2:

Non-comp game 1 followed by 5 game round robin. 3rd-6th QF 1st vs 2nd (winner plays lowest ranked SF team). SF then F

R3:

Non-comp game 1 followed by 5 game round robin. 3rd-6th QF 1st vs 2nd (winner plays lowest ranked SF team). SF then F

Senior Division Umpires Workshop

All Senior/Club umpires should attend.

There will be a workshop for all SD umpires (Prem and Res). Aim is to provide an overview of new pathways and development system and go over guidelines for the season in terms of interpretations for certain rules so that umpires/players/managers/coaches can start the year on the same page.

Recommended for all SD umpires or prospective umpires, coaches /managers. Umpire shirts are still being distributed once certain criteria are met, one of which you have to attended the above workshop.

Senior Division (SD)

The Senior Division is responsible for the Senior winter competition.

 

2024 SD CommitteeGrant Lee, Eugene Philips, Jerram Culow, Steve Tiang, Bruce Becker, Marie Dale (Vice Chair), Michelle Moss (Secretary), Jono Panting (Chiarperson).  

Season: WHA provides various grades to suit all players with Premier Hockey played on Saturday afternoon and Reserve Hockey on Sunday.

Grades: The following grades are available for clubs to enter teams in:

  • Men: Premier, Reserve 1, Reserve 2, Reserve 3
  • Women: Premier, Reserve 1, Reserve 2
