Waikato Senior Umpires Badge Qualification
To achieve the Waikato Senior Badge an umpire will be required to:
1. attend a theory course
2. sit a theory exam. The theory examination will be the same as for the Secondary Badge except the scenarios will be more difficult
3. complete a practical assessment on a minimum of 3 games at a standard of not less than Senior Reserve Men and Woman.
NB. A person starting at the commencement of the season would be expected to have completed their practical assessment during the same season without the requirement to resit their theory paper.
The following exemptions will apply:-
1. Umpires who currently hold a Level NZ Grade 1 or 2 Certificate.
2. Umpires who have: -
A. attended the theory course above and sat the theory examination
B. been a named umpire in the previous season and met approved standards of umpiring determined by a Waikato Hockey Umpires Association panel.
The award will be made based on the overall standard achieved in the theory and practical components. Once an umpire has their Waikato Senior Badge they will become eligible to umpire Premier grade games if they desire.
