Waikato showed touches of class.

NZ U18 National Tournament
Waikato showed touches of class in their 2-2 draw with Auckland last night.
Auckland turned up to the game expecting to easily dispatch Waikato but met sterner opposition than they thought.

Bruce Rosemergy's U18 boys have really started to gel as a unit and apart from the odd lapse in concentration, appear on track for a Semi Final encounter with North Harbour or Nelson.
They first have to dispatch Otago, (surprise Qtr finalists after defeating Northland and BOP)

On the other side of the Draw - Wellington match up against Canterbury in one Qtr Final and Auckland play BOP - the winners playing each other in one semi final.

Todays results may spring some surprises - but on form I pick Akld to beat BOP Waikato to beat Otago Wellington to beat Canterbury and Nth Harbour to beat Nelson..... but Hockey can be a funny game sometimes.
Waikato had a bye round today but after defeating Counties 7-1 in emphatic fashion and coming from 02 down against Manawatu to win 3-2

Wgtn lost narrowly to Nth Harbour 3-2 in a thriller and Canterbury ousted a defiant Tauranga 6-5 in a stunner yesterday.

Nelson Canty look likely from Pool D whilst Waikato have to overcome Hawkesbay and Auckland tomorrow. H/Bay got well beaten 6-0 and must beat Waikato to stand any chance.

Auckland want to finish top of the Pool but are very wary of Waikato.

Nth Harbour and Wellington are favoured in their Pool and Northland got upset by Otago today so Canty B Taranaki and Northland will be fighting to gain a QF berth.
