From very humble beginings, our Boys have made the Waikato proud. The 2006 Waikato Year 5/6 Boys A team have achieved more this season than other teams in the past years have failed to do. To end the tournament in the final, beating last years winners- Counties and favourites for this year along the way is a huge achievement and one that they should feel very proud about.

The team started the season very shaky and for many of the boys converting to playing 11 a side hockey was a big step up. The season has been one of learning for the boys both on and off the turf, they have taken on all challenges and while they did not win the final -they are definitely WINNERS in every other sense.

As the coach of the team, they have worked hard for me and no one player shirked from what was asked of them. They meet all goals and expectations set of them. They are the future players for Waikato and the challenge now for Waikato is ensure that these boys are encouraged and supported as they continue their hockey careers.
