What a great season this team has had! Played 12 Rep Matches 6 goals against
35 goals for. This is a HUGE result! Awesome team effort maintained throughout the whole season.
We beat North Harbour in the Finals of the Northern Region Hatch Development Tournament in Auckland to win the Cup
.
North Harbour beat Waikato in pool play at McGrath (0-1) and so Waikato had to play Auckland for 3rd/4th, their final game for the 2006 season. Two hours before this match our Goalkeeper badly twisted his ankle on the camp trampoline and couldn’t play. Damien Westerman stepped up and put the pads on for the first time. The whole team rallied, played their hearts out, had territorial advantage for most of the match and beat Auckland 1-0. Such was the comradeship and high moral that has been in this team for the whole season.
The beauty of all of this is that 9 players of the 14 were Year 7’s, and who will be available for Hatch next year.
This team went through the whole season beating all comers except North Harbour where each had a win apiece. This should auger well for the future. All the best for the future guys!
