In the ABN Amro Craigs match of the day, Fraser Tech, with several first choice players out with injury, hosted Rotorua Aces stamping their authority on the game from the onset. Grant Goyle converted from a penalty stroke after Michael Petherick creating an early opportunity was taken out illegally. Petherick stretched the lead shortly after from a PC deflection and it looked as if Tech were going to run away with the game after only 15 minutes. Aces showed their determination by pulling one goal back before half time and with a limited bench, Tech started to show signs of cracking under the pressure. Waikato Masters rep and evergreen fullback Jack Clayton worked tirelessly in defense and Craig Armstrong in goal for Tech thwarted any would be Aces scoring opportunities. Tech increased the lead midway through the second spell but Chris McKenna replied for Aces to again keep the game close. Darren Luckin could have increased Tech‚s lead minutes from time when left unmarked but his shot was well saved. A relieved Tech team kept their winning streak in tact with a well deserved, if not thoroughly convincing 3-2 win.

The Cook University, looking for a return to winning form, met a spirited Hamilton Old Boys side at the Gallagher Hockey Centre on Saturday. On first round form Varsity were expected to win but Old Boys had other ideas. Initial Varsity pressure was well absorbed by a hard working Old Boys defensive unit. Scoring opportunities were at a premium as both sides struggled to penetrate the circle and play became congested in midfield. Varsity's centre half Tim Smith supplied a steady stream of possession for his forwards which eventually saw them take the lead through a Pradip Dahya goal. The second half was an ill disciplined affair as both sides showed their frustration with some of the umpiring decisions. Tony Hopping gave the students the winning advantage and Wessel Eshuis was unlucky not increase the lead with a cracking shot rebounding off the cross bar. Score 2-0.

Ecolab Suburbs Piako surprisingly drew their match 3-3 when hosted by Counties side Kohekohe leaving Fraser Tech the opportunity to go to the top of the intercity men's competition.

Tauranga Old Boys kept their title aspirations alive with a 4-2 victory over Rotorua Indians.

Intercity Premier Women
In a welcome return to form for Bazuka Sports University, the students easily accounted for Onewhero/Pukekohe 4-0 in the only local women‚s match. First half goals to Stacey Brannigan (2) and Mel Yule set up the win as Varsity dominated possession and territory. Jo Lowry and Colleen Bayliss combined well at the back and centre half Kylie Morgan relished the freedom and possession they provided controlling play with patient build ups and accurate passing. Strikers Yule, Brannigan and Lymarah Whaurerau all proved a handful in the first half and only excellent defense from Onewhero/Pukekohe fullback Emma Walter kept the score line respectable. Whaurerau was rewarded for her efforts when stylishly finishing off a sweeping passing movement to complete the scoring.

Fraser Tech's Debbie Bell and Tauranga's Anna Hardwick traded goals in a 1 all draw played at Blake Park, Mount Maunganui.
