Boots N' All Fraser Tech sought revenge over Old Boys when the second round of Intercity Hockey commenced on Saturday at the Gallagher Hockey Centre. Tech achieved this with a most emphatic manner by running away with a 10-0 victory to avenge the shock loss of the first round. The other Men's game in Hamilton resulted in a 4-1 win to Suburbs Piako over Mount Maunganui for the locals to remain in the top four. At the Mount, Eastside University suffered a second consecutive loss when Otumoetai beat them 2-1, so they may struggle in the second round as they have lost Blair Hopping to the Commonwealth Games, and Casey Henwood is still working to full fitness following an ankle problem. Pukekohe Indians recorded their first win by beating Kohekohe 2-1 on Friday night. Otumoetai, Fraser Tech and University are equal on points, and goal average decides their current placing's, with Suburbs one win (3 points) behind.

There were only two games played in the Women's "A" Division, with Ultimate University winning 3-2 over Onewhero-Pukekohe in Hamilton, and Mount Maunganui were too good for Tokoroa in winning 2-0 at the Mount. The game between Rose & Thorn Te Awamutu and Fraser Tech has been deferred, while Aces defaulted to Old Girls.

Fraser Tech Men's blitz over Old Boys began from the hit-off with Tech constantly attacking and Old Boys struggling to keep the attacks at bay. Tech's efforts were rewarded in the first few minutes when Sandeep Puna opened the scoring. Shortly afterward, Brent Gatley slotted into the net from a Penalty Corner. Fraser Tech have been without the skilful Grant Goile for a major part of the season but he was back with all his old flair and continued the one way traffic to score, with Darren Luckin making it 4-0 to shut Old Boys out of the game by half time.

The second spell followed in the same pattern as the first, with Tech tearing the Old Boys defence to shreds, as Leighton Hammond (twice), Warren Phillips, James Phillips, Goile and Luckin all scoring to complete the annihilation, and become a major contender for Intercity honours.

In "B" Division Intercity matches, Robinson's Sports Museum University turned a 1-4 half time deficit into a 5-4 win over Tauranga Old Boys, while in the Women's Intercity "B" Division, Fraser Tech "B" shut out Pukekohe United 2-0, and Ngaruawahia and Iveco Manurewa played out a scoreless draw in Pukekohe.
