| 23 September 2002 The 14th Annual General Meeting of the NZ Hockey Federation got underway at 10am on Saturday with the re-election, unapposed of Alan Galletly from Tauranga as President. After several challenges by secret ballot, the Board was re-elected. Two members of the NZHF who retired by rotation, Janet Copland and Jan Martin, were returned to the Board. Total Association votes numbered 118. Craig Gribble (Waikato) was appointed to NZ Hockey Umpires Council. Long serving and retiring Chair of the Masters Council, Doug Lloyd announced that Waikato's Jim Connolly and Graeme Haste have been appointed to the Council. Waikato's Bridget Daldy from the Waikato Hockey Trust is a sitting member. Bridget is a Senior Lecturer in Economics at the University of Waikato, and former President of Waikato Hockey. New life members appointed were Neil Edmundson (Hawkes Bay) , Dave Craven (Manawatu), and Jenny McDonald (Otago). Edmundson has been a Hawkes Bay delegate to the NZHF federation annual meetings for many years, and is a former manager of the New Zealand men's team. He has also acquired a significant knowledge of artificial pitches and acts as a consultant to provinces around the country which are laying new surfaces. Craven is a former international umpire and has been involved in umpiring at national level for 40 years. In recent years he has been an umpires' manager and is chairman of the federation's umpires' council. Affiliation Fees at all levels have been increased in accordance with the CPIndex at 2.8% Concern was expressed at the level of local planning to replace Turf surfaces. A "Standard Format" for reporting of Associations Financial returns, including all assets held by Trusts was to be completed and returned to NZHF by December 31st. Dee Werder presented developments with the NZHF website databases, including the logging of all registered players and the Tournament database. Her software has been warmly received by all Tournament Controllers. A software package to publish Association Draws on the internet is under development. The meeting approved the inclusion of a seventh team in the national under-21 tournaments. The northern region will be split into two areas, one team coming from the North Harbour and Northland provinces, and the other from Counties-Manukau, Waikato and Bay of Plenty. One delegate, President Peter Cawkwell represented the 3,400 Waikato members with 6 votes. Seddon Polglase from Hillcrest High School represented the Youth Council. |
