MINI HOCKEY COMING TO AN END

by Sharyn Kerr
4th September

Saturday saw final games for 6 a side teams, while next Saturday, 9th September is the final day for 8 a side teams.
The great atmosphere we have seen all season was evident as 6 a side coaches gave out certificates, medals and trophies to their teams and sausages sold out in record time.

In semi-final playoffs for the Milne cup, Southwell Raptors defeated Silverdale Strikers, and Hukanui Dribblers beat an ever improving Determination Frankton.

Southwell will play Hukanui in the final at 10.50 a.m. next Saturday.

The surprise of this season must surely have been Southcity Strikers, who entered in the 8 a side new grade, but in cross-grades games, beat Determination Frankton as well as several other 8 a side senior teams.

On finals day, teams will have two 20 minute games, with the morning commencing at 8.20 a.m. Presentations to Year 5 & 6 players selected for Waikato representative teams will be made by Kate Mahon (Blackstick) at 9.40 a.m.
