PELORUS TRUST NZ MEN'S TEAM HOCKEY ASSISTANTS ANNOUNCED

Today, the New Zealand Hockey Federation announced two coaches who will tour with the Pelorus Trust NZ Men's Team to assist Charlie Oscroft (who replaces Kevin Towns as Head Coach for the forthcoming Champions Challenge Tournament in South Africa).

Andrew Hastie (current Canterbury men's coach and ex national player) and John Christensen (current National Selector, ex Canterbury Hockey Coach and 1976 Olympic Gold medallist) will form part of the management set up for the team for the tournament next week in Ranburg.

As a selector Christensen toured with the team to Malaysia during the Sultan Azlan Shah Tournament in February and Hastie was invited to be an observer during the recent Canadian Series in May.

Christensen will assist Oscroft with the tactical analysis and Hastie will assist with training and undertake the video responsibilities.

Kevin Towns (who won’t be travelling with the team due to medical reasons) said he was pleased with the new set up and was confident that the team were in extremely good hands. Towns will remain in daily contact with Oscroft during the tour.
