U18 Boys Premier Tournament

The Waikato Hockey Association is pleased to be hosting the 2008 National
U18 Boys Premier Tournament from Monday July 7th to Saturday July 12th.
We extend a very warm welcome to all players, officials and supporters.
The hockey turf is located at the Gallagher Hockey Centre, Queens Avenue,
Hamilton

Accommodation Details of accommodation available in Hamilton
were sent out in Newsletter #1. If you did not receive this you can view
it on our internet site www.waikatohockey.org.nz.
Facilities We are a twin water surface complex with the
Hockey Pavilion overlooking #1 turf and open seating overlooking #2 turf.
Meeting rooms are available but we would recommend teams come to the turf
dressed ready for games and we suggest they shower back at their accommodation.
Showers are available but we do not recommend their use because of the
volume of foot traffic through them.
Parking is available at the Gallagher Hockey Centre.
We advise you to keep all vehicles locked and suggest you do not leave
valuables in them. Security checks of the car park will be carried out
on a regular basis. There will be reserved places for team mini buses.
We ask that you avoid parking in Queens Avenue and Mary Street.

Pre-Tournament Practice Times – will be available
Sunday July 6th from 12noon to 5.30pm.
_ hour slots, _ or full turf. Bookings to be made direct to WHA office
07 8380485 or email waikatohockey@xtra.co.nz. Cost is $30.00 per _ turf
per _ hour. Times will be allocated on a first in first serve
basis.
Managers Meeting will be held on Sunday July 6th at 6.30pm
in the Waikato Hockey Pavilion.
Reminders re registration forms, uniform samples (both primary and alternative)
and an agenda will follow.
Umpires Meeting will be held on Sunday July 6th at 5.30pm
in the Waikato Hockey Pavilion.
HNZ Coaching Forum HNZ are planning a Coach Forum to
be held on the Wednesday night (9th July). It will start at 7pm and the
presenter will be Greg Nicol. A flyer from HNZ is attached.
BBQ Quiz Night We are planning a BBQ dinner/Quiz Night
on Tuesday 8th July starting at 6pm in the Pavillion. This evening is
for hockey players, team coaches and managers and supporters. $12 per
head (main plus dessert followed by Quiz). We would like indications of
numbers before the tournament to see if it is feasible. Please reply to
WHA office before 27th June.
Team Registration Forms are due by Friday 20th June.
Hockey Balls All teams are to supply their own balls.
Match balls should be white Kookaburra Elite brand.
Canteen A full canteen service will be operating during
the tournament and pre ordered lunches will be available. Foods available
form the canteen during the week:
• Hot foods: Chips, Pies, Sausage Rolls, Toasted Sandwiches, American
Hot Dogs, Soup
• Other: Sandwiches, Filled Rolls, Muffins, Slices, Fruit
A lunch pre order form has been included with
this newsletter. Can I please encourage teams to order ahead if possible
(ie before the tournament). This will greatly assist us to plan our manpower
requirements for the canteen.
Tournament Rules You should bring your own copy of the
Hockey New Zealand Tournament Rules. An abridged copy will be included
in the Tournament programme.
You should also be familiar with the Hockey NZ Code of Conduct,
and the following Hockey NZ Policies –
• Alcohol Free, Drug Free & Smoke Free
• Anti-Doping Code & Sanctions
• Head Injury
Closing Ceremony will be held immediately following the
final game on Saturday July 12th and should commence no later than 3.45pm.
Teams are asked to assemble on the No 1 Turf in front of the pavilion
as soon as the final is over.
Tournament Shirts Pre-Tournament order must be received
by Waikato Hockey no later than Friday 20/06/08. DOWNLOAD

– will be available throughout the tournament for both Team photos
and action shots.
Booking times for Team photos on Monday 7th July will be arranged at the
Managers Meeting.
First Aid
Ice will be available in the Dugouts.
