SportsForce Hockey Development Officer Supervisors Project Manager: SportsForce and SportsForce Hockey Liaison Person, Waikato Hockey Association Controlling Officer: C.E.O Sport Waikato Purpose of Position To establish, develop, and maintain an effective Hockey volunteer development education and recruitment programmes for the Waikato region (including Waikato and King Country provinces.) Key Outcomes and Strategies Develop an effective link between grassroots sport and Waikato Hockey Association to improve communication and recognition of grass roots Hockey. Meetings with clubs at club meetings or visits to improve communication. Meetings with Primary / Intermediate / Secondary schools at coordinator meetings or visits to improve communication. Workshop with Waikato Hockey Association to review and develop strategies for volunteer development. Develop and maintain database of contacts. Hockey SportsForce newsletters to Hockey clubs, RSOs Provide articles and information for media and internet. Develop long term strategy for volunteer development including school club links as major strategy. Significant planning and development consultancy with RSOs or clubs with focus on volunteer development. Significant planning and development consultancy with secondary schools with focus on volunteer development. Train volunteers Train a network of course presenters. Provide administration training or advice at courses or informally. Provide KiwiSport, courses in Hockey for teachers and others from clubs and community. Provide Getting Started/Introductory courses for coaches. Provide Hockey coaching courses at level one or above. Provide courses for Hockey umpires. Recruit and train new volunteer leaders. Train secondary school students in Hockey leadership (coaches, umpires, administrators). Train tertiary students in Hockey leadership (coaches, umpires, administrators). Train parents in a Parents as First Coaches programme. Provide opportunities and support for new or young Hockey volunteer leaders. Increase the number of young people participating in Hockey. Provide Hockey in-service training for teachers and teacher trainees. Lead and support Hockey leaders into projects that encourage young people to participate in sport. Support Advocacy Programmes. Advocate FairPlay as an expectation of all Hockey clubs and schools. Provide injury prevention in all Hockey coach education. Support volunteers to encourage people with disabilities to participate in Hockey. Support volunteers to encourage Maori and minority cultures to participate in Hockey. Support volunteers to encourage women to participate in Hockey. Other responsibilities Report work carried out through Sport Waikato accountability system. Meet regularly with SportsForce Project Manager. Meet regularly with supervisor from Waikato Hockey Association. Attend SportsForce Development Officers meetings. Participate in professional development opportunities provided by Sport Waikato. |
