Ex-Waikato Dio and Waikato U18 Rep. Makes the Black Sticks Team for India
Kate Mahon's dream of being a Black Stick has finally come true.
Hamilton hockey parents John and Judy Mahon and brother CJ Mahon (Suburbs senior striker) will be celebrating Kate's hard won battle for her dream. Only 18 months ago Kate was struck down by cancer and had to have her thyroid gland removed. The ex-Waikato Diocesan 1stXI Captain and School Prefect is based in the North Harbour camp. She joins Waikato's leading players and New Zealand Black Sticks, Clarrissa Eshuis, ex-Hillcrest HS, and ex- HBHS, Richard Petherick. All three players are representing New Zealand in the USA, Europe, and now India.
All players have had strong support from their families and the Waikato Hockey's Representative programme led by Development Officer, Bruce Rosemergy, and Rep. Programme Coordinator, Vicki Petherick. Thanks also to the work of Craig Gribble, former coach and now New Zealand International Umpire. More below>>

Well done Kate! You are an inspiration to us all. Best Wishes from all of us in the Waikato(your real home).
