Hey everybody! Internet has been down at our apartment the last few days, which has made keeping in touch difficult. Since I last wrote you all a lot has happened, the hockey has got into full swing along with a lot of the other events. Have really enjoyed watching the guys play, they have been performing well with good results bar the 7 second to go winner scored by Spain. Tonight they play China in the main stadium, providing we win this a semi final birth keeps looking better and better. I’m sure all of you have been following the games with great interest. Training has also continued on every second day, which has been good. I am itching to play! Lately I have been seeing a bit more of the Olympic venues. There is an area called the OCD (Olympic common domain), within this there are several event venues including; the birds nest, swimming cube, fencing stadium, and indoor stadium. As you could imagine this area is massive, there are two Mc Donald’s which I don’t know about, and sponsors such as coke, adidas etc have buildings there advertising and showing off. My personal favourite is the Samsung centre, this is the place where athletes and their families can register and then hang out enjoying free food and free drinks while relaxing in comfortable chairs watching the events on 50 inch plasmas, good fun. Last night Nick and I caught up with the Australians P class players at their hotel, a good chance to have a chin wag about each other’s circumstances etc. We also watched the 100 metre sprint final where Usain Bolt smashed his own world record and slowed down towards the end, was an amazing race to watch. Thanks to the Australians for the couple of drinks and sides we had. Tomorrow Nick and I will venture into the village on perhaps our final trip in there. I hope to hit the gym, and hang catch up with team mates, and have a nice lunch and dinner also, then wander down and watch the women play at 830 pm. That is all for now. Take care everyone. Richie |
